If you like revolutionary history then Paris has so many sites and buildings that date from this period in the late eighteenth century. During the French revolution the citoyens or the revolutionaries revolted against the absolute power of the king and the nobility. Many nobles were found guilty of treason against the revolution and were sentenced to death. Their heads were chopped off under the guillotine on the place de la concord. Even King Louis XVI lost his head on this square. From the place de la Concord you can walk to the Tuileries gardens. This used to be an old palace with gardens built in 1564.
Les Invalides is a complex of buildings in the seventh arrondissement. The hospitals, museums and other buildings all are related to the military history of France. You can see a statue of Napoleon Bonaparte, the French emperor in the nineteenth century and find out how important he was for the French. His tomb is also in les Invalides.
The Seine belongs to Paris as the Thames belongs to London. So buy a ticket and step on a boat and take a tour on this famous river. The Seine divides Paris in two banks, the left and the right bank or in French Rive Gauche and Rive Droite. There are thirty seven bridges spanning the Seine in Paris alone. The Pont Neuf or the new bridge is the most famous one in Paris. This bridge was built in 1607 and connects the right and left bank. It is an arch bridge of twenty two meters wide and two hundred and thirty two meters long. The statue on this bridge is of King Henry IV.Location - Area: 03ème/04ème - Le Marais
